Book Review-EVERYONE HAS A STORY BY SAVI SHARMA

I picked up this Amazon bestseller to achieve my goal of reading more Indian English Literature and boy was I disappointed.

STUFF ON THE BACKCOVER SAYS

Meera, a fledgling writer who is in search of a story that can touch millions of lives.

Vivaan, assistant branch manager at Citibank, who dreams of travelling the world.

Everyone has their own story, but what happens when these four lives are woven together?

Pull up a chair in Kafe Kabir and watch them explore friendship and love, writing their own pages of life from the cosy café to the ends of the world

PLOT IN SHORT

A boy. A girl. Their friend’s rich and poor love story. Boy is broken because of his lost love. Girl is bubbly.Boy is serious. Boy leaves. Girl gets depressed. Boy realizes his love. He comes back and tells his dramatic past. Girl runs away. Gets into an accident. Goes into a coma. Boy confesses his love. Girl opens her eyes.

THE GOOD

  • Some inspirational talk in between

THE BAD

  • The language is very simple
  • Only two characters are given the limelight
  • The story is unrealistic so many times

MY THOUGHTS

I have two main questions as to how can anyone chase someone for a story just because they look good and second why would any Indian parent not come to see their coma stricken daughter is beyond me. I did not like this book at all. Any one looking for an inspirational romance book with absolutely nothing else to do can go for this book.

MY RATINGS

1.5/5

Book Review – CARRIE BY STEPHEN KING

077ae3adac9bfd2e75906ba2b5dcf4d9

This is the Stephen Kings first published novel. Its one of those things that come in small packages but make a big impact so don’t let the brevity of the book  fool you. The movie adaptations of this book are also quite popular.

STUFF ON THE BACKCOVER SAYS

Carrie knew she should not use the terrifying power she possessed… But one night at her senior prom, Carrie was scorned and humiliated just one time too many, and in a fit of uncontrollable fury she turned her clandestine game into a weapon of horror and destruction..

PLOT IN SHORT

Mr. King uses a series of articles, reports and books to string together a telekinetic catastrophe that occurs in Maine on a prom night due to our heroine or should I say villain Carrie White.

THE GOOD

  • Fast paced story
  • Well developed characters
  • Different narrators gives a better perceptive to the story
  • Well written scenes

THE BAD

  • Some of the stuff may turn some readers off Menstrual blood, electrocutions, live burning

MY THOUGHTS

I enjoyed this book but it left me feeling sad. I felt bad and rooted for Carrie and wanted a happy ending for her. However this ending feels more realistic. All the Stephen King lovers and the movie fan don’t miss this one.
