This classic for all ages with a cult following is finally off of my TBR list. A prequel to the Lord of the ring series is a must read for all those who read and loved the world of Middle earth.
STUFF ON THE BACKCOVER SAYS
Bilbo Baggins is a hobbit who enjoys a comfortable, unambitious life, rarely traveling any farther than his pantry or cellar. But his contentment is disturbed when the wizard Gandalf and a company of dwarves arrive on his doorstep one day to whisk him away on an adventure.
PLOT IN SHORT
A very domestic and docile Bilbo dragged into a brave and dangerous quest by Gandalf. The whole plot revolves around the dwarves trying to get back their lost treasure. On the way Bilbo finds and keeps a magical ring which greatly helps their cause. This ring also forms the basis of the LOTR series. How Bilbo and his new found friends manage to win and keep the treasure while overcoming various obstacles forms the whole premise of the story.
THE GOOD
- Everything!!
THE BAD
- Too much description on certain pages might turn some readers off
MY THOUGTHS
Excellent book. The book and the movies are very different but both are enjoyable. It is easy to see why J.R.R Tolkien has been an inspiration for many authors from George R. R. Martin to Stephen King. This is a book for all generations. A gift that can be passed down from one generation to another. Must read.
MY RATINGS
4.8/5
