I love a good crime thriller and had not read one from a new author in a long time. I came across this book on amazons best seller list and picked it up. After reading the book I wish I had not.
STUFF ON THE BACK COVER SAYS
In the cornfields of Nebraska a woman is found murdered, strung up on a pole, the victim of a deranged killer. It doesn’t take long for the police to realize a serial killer is on the loose. Detective Mackenzie White, finds herself called in grudgingly to help solve it. Yet even for Mackenzie this new case proves an impossible riddle, something the likes of which she—and the local force—have ever seen.
PLOT IN SHORT
A young smart and beautiful detective with no major flaws and a usual sob story of a dead parent (father in this case) is our heroine. All her colleagues are old dumb and sexist and do not respect her. Yet when she finds the most obvious clues shes showered with praise privately. How she finally Finally nabs the serial killer with a little help forms the premise of this story.
- Fast paced
- Short book
- Lot of grammatical mistakes
- The end was a let down
- No twists in the plot at all
- The motive of the killer nor his selection of the last victim is explained.
This book was no thriller. No suspense was built and the final reveal was just flat. Not once did I get into the whodunnit mood while reading this book. In the first few pages it is repeatedly mentioned that she a young 25 year old women again and again. Also how all the other officers do not like her is mentioned again and again ,only to heap praises on her whenever she finds the simplest of the clues. It shows all the other officers to be lazy and incompetent. I found all this extremely irritating. Give this one a try if you have nothing better to read.
