I picked this book up because I wanted to lose weight without involving anything that said ‘gluten free, paleo keto’ etc. If you google weight loss or diet you will find so much information that it is actually overwhelming. Every article will tell you something totally different. You will find everything from a banana only diet to a green smoothie diet for ‘amazing’ results. I found all this very confusing especially because everyone was raving about things like avocado on multigrain toast and I’ve never even seen an avocado in my life.
Then I saw this book and was delighted. It is written in simple, easy to understand language which basically tells you that everything your grandma told you was right. Ghee, jaggery ,mangoes, pickles are all great. Most Indian spices like turmeric, cumin, flaxseed (alsi) are even better. In other words, a simple home cooked desi meal is much better for your health than eating imported fruits or low-fat yogurt. So go forth fellow Indians and eat everything your mom makes to your heart’s content. However do all this in MODERATION, otherwise just like me, you’ll end up gaining more weight instead of losing it.
All those planning to shed some pounds or those who are already on weightloss journey can give this one a try.
